Reasons to Celebrate 2018-2019

 Congratulations to the HHS Seniors!
The senior class received $1.35 million in scholarships.  1/3 of the students in the graduating class received a scholarship or military incentives.  15% of the seniors graduated with a 4.0 GPA. 

 Congratulations to Jacob!
 Jacob Baker was the recipient of the Self-Above-Self Award.  
Jacob Baker was chosen as Hanceville High School's recipient of the Service Above Self Award by the Cullman Rotary Club.

Several seniors recently signed letters of intent.
Several seniors recently signed letters of intent to programs at the college level.  Included above are Malia Howell (Wallace State College Cross Country), Abi Long (University of Tennessee Southland Band Majorette), Johnathan Schramm (University of North Alabama Marching Band), Sadie Eddy (Wallace State College Cheerleaders), and Alexia Edwards (Auburn University at Montgomery Cheerleaders).   

 Congratulations to the Hank!
The HHS Golf team recently competed in the 3A Section 4 Tournament.  Hank Radcliff finished with the top score and now advances to the Sub-State Golf Tournament. 

 Congratulations to the HHS Track Team!
The HHS Track team recently competed in the sectional track meet and several individuals and teams qualified for the state meet.  The 4x100 Relay team finished 1st and the 4x400 team finished 2nd.  Individual qualifiers include Tristan Vincent (Discus/Shot Put), Romael Simmons (100 Meter & 200 Meter), Kierra Merriweather (100 Meter Hurdles), Garrett Turner (110 Hurdles), Noah Frasier (800 Meter), Ion Patrum (800 Meter), and Ben Johnson (400 Meter).

 Congratulations to Abigal, Alex, and Gracie!
 Alex Campbell and Gracie Hudspeth accepted their awards for Student of the Year. Alex Campbell was recently selected as the Cullman Area Student of the Year and Gracie Hudspeth was selected as the Cullman Area Technology Academy Student of the Year.  Abigail Long (pictured below) was named Fast Track Student of the Year.

 Congratulations to the HHS Baseball Team!
The HHS Baseball team made it to the 2nd Round (Sweet 16) of the state playoffs this season.  

 Congratulations to the HHS Math Team!
Here are the trophies from the math team state tournament.   The HHS Math Team recently won 2nd Place at the state math team tournament!  This team is comprised of the Geometry team, the Algebra II team, and the Comprehensive Math team.  

 Congratulations to Taylor!
 Taylor signs a scholarship to Samford University. Taylor Gable recently signed a letter of intent to perform at the college level.  Taylor will be a part of the marching band at Samford University. 

 Congratulations to Hank and Cody!
Hank Radcliff and Cody Kanaday recently competed in a Young Entrepreneur Competition at Wallace State.  Hank finished in 2nd Place and Cody finished in 3rd.  Both received monetary prizes for this event. 

 Congratulations to Josie!
 Josie Brown was crowned Miss Enhancer and Fair Queen Representative. Congratulations to Josie Brown who was recently crowned Miss Enhancer and Fair Queen Representative for Hanceville High School!

 Congratulations to the Math Team!
The math teams won 2nd Place at the county competition in Geometry and Algebra II.   Congratulations to the HHS Geometry Team and the HHS Algebra II Team.  Both teams finished in 2nd Place finish in the county math tournament.  Garrett Riggs finished in 4th Place in Geometry and Connor Blanchard finished in 3rd Place in Algebra II.

 Congratulations to Ella!
 Ella won 1st Place in Biology at the county science fair. Congratulations to Ella Absher.  She won 1st Place in Biology at the county science fair.  She also won an award in Microbiology.  Ben Wise won an award in Physical Science and William Lesnansky won an award in Technology.      

 Congratulations to Kelly!
 Kelly was recently chosen to the All-State Basketball team. Congratulations to Kelly Pickett!  She was recently selected as part of the All-State Basketball Team.  

 Congratulations to the Math Team!
Members of the HHS Math Team have finished strong in the 1st Round of the State Math Tournament.  

The Geometry team is currently in 1st Place (Garrett Riggs, 1st Place; Jacob Mallon, 4th Place; and Ivan Conway; 11th).

The Algebra II team is currently in 1st Place (Connor Blanchard, 2nd; Noah Frazier, 5th; Dakota Brunetti, 9th; and Raenon Rider, 13th). 

The Comprehensive Math team is currently in 4th Place (Alex Campbell, 8th; Tate Brown, 12th; and Tess Brown, 15th). 

Congratulations to the HHS Football Players!
Senior members of the HHS Football team sign letters of intent to play football in college.        Four members of the HHS Football team recently signed letters of intent to play football at the college level.  Antonio Bautista signed with Culver-Stockton College; Fred Ellis signed with LaGrange College; Romael Simmons signed with Bethel University; and RJ Evans signed with Hutchinson College.

Congratulations to Dakota & Scholars Bowl!
The HHS Scholars Bowl team went 4-1 in the ASCA District II Tournament at Wallace State.  This qualifies the team for a state tournament spot as a wild card.  Dakota Brunetti finished 1st in total number of individual points scored at the district tournament with 300 points.  She outscored all other students in both the District I and the District II divisions.  The team played in the state tournament on April 12th. 

Congratulations to John, Ethan, Gavin, & Zach!
Hanceville students John Converse, Ethan Monk, Gavin Monk, and Zach Hamilton are participants in NASA's HUNCH Program at the Cullman Area Technology Academy.  Through the precision machining program, these students and other CATA students have manufactured components that will be used on the International Space Station.   

 Congratulations to the Abi!
Abi Long was recently named Runner-up in the 2019 Distinguished Young Woman Competition.  Congratulations to Abi Long for being named 1st Runner-up in the 2019 Alabama Distinguished Young Woman Competition in Montgomery.  Abi, who won the Cullman Distinguished Young Woman award, competed against 45 other young women.  This competition challenges students to be healthy, involved, studious, ambitious, and responsible. 

 Congratulations to the varsity boys!

With the win over Pennington on January 18th, the varsity boys' basketball team clinched the area title and hosted the area tournament.  Although they lost in the area title game, they won their sub-regional game and advanced to the 1st Round of the Regional Tournament at Jacksonville State.   

The boys also won the Corner Christmas Tournament on December 18th. 

 Congratulations to Kelly and RJ!
Kelly Pickett and RJ Evans both recently scored the 1000th point of their basketball careers. 

 Congratulations to Dakota!
Dakota Brunetti finished 4th in total number of points at the Cullman County Scholarship Bowl Tournament.   Dakota Brunetti finished 4th in total number of points scored at the Cullman County Scholars Bowl Tournament.  Dakota is the captain of the HHS Scholars Bowl team. 
 Congratulations to Aaron!
 Aaron Brown competes in the state indoor track meet. Aaron Brown set a new school record for both the 1600 meter (mile) and the 3200 (2 mile) track distances at the state indoor track meet.  Aaron finished the mile in 9th Place with a time of 4:53.18 and the 2 mile in 4th Place with a time of 10:25.81.

Aaron also finished 3rd in the cross country sectional meet.  Aaron set a new school record and a new personal best with his time of 17:09 in the 5K.  He broke the previous school record of 17:13 that he had set when he won
 the Cullman County Cross Country Championship this year. 

Aaron represented HHS in the state meet at Moulton.  

 Congratulations to Mackenzie!
Mackenzie Jones is a member of the CATA Carpentry Team that finished 1st in the Team Build Competition held this past October in Tuscaloosa.  

 Congratulations to Abigail!
 This is Hanceville's Abi Long, the winner of the 2018 Fair Queen Pageant. Abigail Long was crowned as Cullman County Fair Queen on October 9th, giving Hanceville its 3rd straight Fair Queen crown.  


Congratulations to Katie!
Katie Lee was crowned as Miss Teen Cullman County Fair on October 11th. 

 Congratulations to the HHS Band!
The HHS Band was awarded several trophies during the Southern Hospitality Marching Festival.  The Hanceville High School Marching received superior ratings in several categories at the Southern Hospitality Marching Festival. 

 Congratulations to Aaron!
 Aaron Brown finished 1st in the Mud Run at Randolph High School. Congratulations to Aaron Brown for winning the Mud Run cross country event at Randolph High School. Aaron finished 1st with a time of 17:05 in a field of over 400 runners in the Class 1A to 4A division.
